We Build West Michigan

Description

Habitat for Humanity of Kent County is a non-profit affordable home builder and after 35 years of service – and 420 homes built – the organization has started its biggest and most complex project ever: a 5.5 acre redevelopment called Plaza Roosevelt.

Located in Roosevelt Park, eight community partners have come together to invest $40 million and increase access to affordable housing, education, health care and green spaces.

Habitat’s portion of the project is well underway with 13 of its 17 planned homes now under construction. This year’s Parade home is in the center of the development and was built by students through a partnership between Habitat and the residential construction program at GRCC’s Tassell M-TEC Center.

The home will be LEED certified (Habitat Kent’s 190th LEED home) and the whole development is anticipated to be one of the first LEED certified Neighborhood Developments in the state of Michigan.
